Romanian writer Mircea Cartarescu wins the Austrian State Prize for European Literature 2015

Romanian writer Mircea Cărtărescu wins the Austrian State Prize for European Literature 2015, one of the most prestigious international literary awards. Mircea Cărtărescu a fost desemnat câștigătorul Premiului de Stat al Austriei pentru Literatură Europeană pe 2015, distinctie acordata pentru întreaga sa operă literară. Ceremonia de decernare va avea loc pe 27 iulie 2015 la Salzburg, în deschiderea Festivalului Mozart.

Acest premiu a mai fost acordat si scriitorului roman Eugene Ionesco in1970. Laureaţi din anii trecuți ai premiului: W. H. Auden, Harold Pinter, Vaclav Havel, Italo Calvino, Doris Lessing, Milan Kundera, Salman Rushdie, Umberto Eco, Patrick Modiano, Javier Marias, John Banville etc.‪
